Six Cities and Jewish History

Six Cities and Jewish History

Rabbi Robert Tabak

Begins Wednesday, February 11

This is a study of Jewish life, especially from the late 19th century to the present of six very different communities that confronted modernity and evolving Jewish options in varied ways: Amsterdam (a  Western European city); Vilna, Lithuania (a major Eastern European city); Salonika, Greece (a center of Sephardic Jewish culture); Baghdad (home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in the diaspora); Tel Aviv (founded 1909), and Philadelphia.
