In the sixth year of this class, we will examine more of the complex social issues Israeli society faces each day.  Over two sessions, primary source materials, films, and guest speakers will help us gain insight into current issues that often don't make the news in the U.S.  Prepare to rethink assumptions and engage with these difficult issues together.  Both those who have taken the previous years' classes and new students are welcome!

Did Abraham smash his father's idols?  How is the mishkan connected to Shabbat?  For some Rabbis, every letter in the Torah was an opening to create a new story or to develop a new law.  Through in-depth text study, this class will explore the some of the most creative tales told by the sages, as well as some of the connections between Torah and later Halacha.  No experience is necessary.

Will your child become bar/bat mitzvah at GJC in the next few years?  Join us to hear from parents who have celebrated their children’s bar & bat mitzvahs at our synagogue in a variety of ways.  This is a chance to ask practical questions and learn more about how to navigate the process in the best way for your family.
