Charry Service: Men's Club Shabbat

The Charry Service provides a traditional, egalitarian service with a focus on learning.  Both women and men participate equally in our service, and we encourage and provide opportunities for participants to learn the language (Hebrew) and the skills (chants and tunes) that allow them to lead the prayers and to read from the sacred texts that make up the core of our service.  Our Rabbis and other guest teachers open up new perspectives on these texts and encourage discussion during our extended study period after the Torah is read.

Men's Club Day at JRA

On Sunday, April 2nd, volunteers of all ages and backgrounds meet as a community at JRA's northeast Philadelphia warehouse (10980 Dutton Road, adjacent to the NE Airport). Volunteers pack over 3000 boxes with fresh produce and non-perishable kosher food, and deliver food and a smile into the homes of those in need.  See: https://www.jewishrelief.org.  All of these food packing events are important to those in need, but this one which will include matzah and other Passover foods, has particular significance.

Card Magic: The Yad is Quicker Than the Eye!

GJC Men's Club invites all to "The Card Magic of Daniel Roy" on Sunday November 13th at 10 am in the Temin Canteen Room. There are dozens of card tricks, but only a few ever master "advanced" ones. Card magician Daniel Roy, a pre-med student at UPENN, will enlighten us on the history and evolution of his art, and dazzle us with demonstrations of tricks such as, "The Cooler," "Three Card Monte," and "Salt in the Wound." Suitable for parents and kids 10 years and older. Lox, bagels and audience participation!
