A community of communities

Healing Service (Refuat HaNefesh)

All are welcome to join us for a quiet, reflective, and restorative healing service.  We gather once a month to sit in silence,  to gently sing, and to share prayers for healing.  We pray for ourselves, for people we love, for members of our community, and for the greater world.  By being together, we acknowledge that we are not alone in our pain.

Ginat Shabbat

Ginat Shabbat:  Our Weekly Tot Service!

A week Shabbat service for children up to age 6 and their grownups.  Ginat Shabbat is a garden of delights for our youngest daveners ready to move their little bodies and partake in fun and engaging Shabbat activities! It is followed by a Kiddush snack.

Dorshei Derekh

Minyan Dorshei Derekh ("Seekers of a Way") is one of the three davening (prayer) groups that meet on Shabbat and Holiday mornings at GJC (see also Charry Service and Minyan Masorti). We are a dynamic, progressive, inclusive, and warm worshipping community. Our minyan is home to people of many different ages and backgrounds, reflecting the rich diversity of Northwest Philadelphia and beyond. As part of GJC, we are an affiliate of the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism. Dorshei Derekh is also an affiliate of the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation.

Minyan Masorti

Minyan Masorti is one of three prayer communities that gather regularly at GJC for Shabbat and Holiday davening (prayer) and celebrations (see also Charry Service and Minyan Dorshei Derekh). Our tefilot (prayers) consist of an egalitarian version of a traditional service. We're an informal and welcoming group. Davening, singing, learning, eating, drinking, and schmoozing are some of our specialties.

Jr. Congregation

Jr. Congregation:  By kids …for kids

In Junior Congregation, children build the skills and the confidence to take the lead!  Each week, 2nd-6th graders lift up their voices and step up in the ways that they are most comfortable --- some leading prayers in Hebrew or in English, some call pages, some prepare Torah readings, and everyone gets involved through interactive discussions and thematic activities!
