Dorshei Derekh Pesach & Shabbat Service

Minyan Dorshei Derekh ("Seekers of a Way") is one of the three davening (prayer) groups that meet on Shabbat and Holiday mornings at GJC (see also Charry Service and Minyan Masorti). We are a dynamic, progressive, inclusive, and warm worshipping community. Our minyan is home to people of many different ages and backgrounds, reflecting the rich diversity of Northwest Philadelphia and beyond. As part of GJC, we are an affiliate of the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism. Dorshei Derekh is also an affiliate of the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation.

Minyan Masorti Pesach & Shabbat Service

Minyan Masorti is one of three prayer communities that gather regularly at GJC for Shabbat and Holiday davening (prayer) and celebrations (see also Charry Service and Minyan Dorshei Derekh). Our tefilot (prayers) consist of an egalitarian version of a traditional service. We're an informal and welcoming group. Davening, singing, learning, eating, drinking, and schmoozing are some of our specialties.

Ginat Shabbat

Ginat Shabbat, a parent-child service for children through Grade 1:  Saturdays at 11 AM (or 10 AM when there is Musical Marching Minyan) during the school year

ShabbaTeeny Hanukah

Join in the fun at ShabbaTeeny Hanukah! A Shabbat Hanukah morning experience for families with children ages 0-4 with stories, songs, and schmoozing – Ramah Style! ShabbaTeeny will take place in room 204, and combine with GJC’s regular Ginat Shabbat children’s service.

During Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday, November 3, Rabbi Lev will give a talk titled "Justice, Justice Shall you Pursue: Activism in the Jewish Tradition". This talk will connect to the weekly Torah portion and focus on the unfettered pursuance of justice from the Jewish perspective. Charry Memorial Shabbat Service & Portrait Dedication for Rabbi Emeritus Leonard Gordon

How can religious leaders play a role in peace building between Israelis and Palestinians? Can shared text study be a meaningful part of that process? Our weekend together will look at a wide range of sacred scriptures with a special emphasis on texts from the Qur'an.
