Taking a stand for dialogue

This week, the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations met to consider the request of J Street to join this group that allows for dialogue between the many diverse institutions that make up American Jewish life, from the Zionist Organization of America to Americans for Peace Now, and from the Union of Reform Judaism to the Orthodox Union.

The Mishna states:  If a fledgling bird is found within fity cubits of a dovecote, it belongs to the owner of the dovecote.  If it is found outside the limit of fifty cubits, it belongs to the person who finds it. Rabbi Jeremiah asked:  If one foot of the fledgling bird is within the limit of fifty cubits, and one foot is outside it, what is the law?
