Exploring the Impact of Christian Hegemony on U.S. Culture

with Dr. Andrea Jacobs

3 Sessions:  Tuesdays, 7-8:30 PM  -  Feb 7, Feb 17, Feb 21

We live in a culturally Christian society and that has implications for everything from the calendar we use to our habit of seeing things in oppositional binaries of "good" and "evil."  In this course, we will examine the dynamics of power and privilege as Jews living in a dominant Chritian society.  Using exceerpts from Paul Kivel's groundbreaking book, Living in the Shadow of the Cross, we will discuss critical concepts for understanding the impact of elite hegemonic Christianity on U.S. culture and what it means for us as Jews.

Note:  This course is designed as a follow-upto Rabbi Seth Goren's Racial JusticW class, but that class is not a pre-requisite for this one.
