Repairing the World (Tikkun Olam)

Tikkun Olam @GJC

Reparing the World
At Germantown Jewish Centre we believe that Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) is central to our identity as a Jewish community. Our mission is to engage our diverse membership in Tikkun Olam both within the Jewish community and in the broader interfaith world of the Philadelphia region and beyond. Through learning, serving others and advocating for change, Tikkun Olam @GJC offers members a variety of ways to get involved that reflect their interests and skills and accommodate the demands of work and family commitments. Our aspiration is to infuse the entire synagogue with increasing awareness of how we can fulfill the Jewish imperative to “pursue justice” (Deuteronomy 16:20).

Germantown Jewish Centre provides a number of opportunities to engage in Tikkun Olam. They include helping the homeless, supporting refugees, working witth local public schools, and advocating for racial justice.
