TEENS

TEENS @ GJC (7-12th Grade)

GJC has several ways for teens to get involved, build relationships, and have positive and meaningful Jewish experiences together.

  1. Teen Tuesday (T2) allows teens in 7th, 8th and 9th grade to stay connected to old friends and make new friends while engaging in classes on a wide range of relevant and interesting Jewish topics.
  2. Confirmation is the capstone of the GJC youth education experience in which 10th graders explore different religious traditions and communities around Philadelphia through a series of field trips to those communities. Rabbi Zeff, Morah Abby and the Confirmation teacher help students reflect on their own relationship with Judaism through the lenses of the religions studied. The experience culminates with a special shabbat Confirmation service that the students help shape & lead.
  3. Madrichim are students in 8th-12th grade who are paid to work in various positions in the Religious School (RS) on Sundays and Saturdays.  In addition to providing a much-needed service to the community, teens benefit by being role models and deepening their Jewish knowledge and connections through taking responsibility for others.
  4. The GJC Youth Group welcomes teens in 7th – 12th grade to participate in it’s many social, fun and service activities. The GJC Youth Group is led by a Leadership Team made up of members who plan programs based on the needs and desires of the group.  Past activitees have included: holiday parties and pot lucks, trips to a local goat farm, delivering food to low-income neighbors, sleepovers in the synagogue and more!
