B'nei Mitzvah Program
GJC helps students and families to prepare for this happy lifecycle event through an intensive study period. The Education Department works with each family to coordinate, prepare and specialize each child’s simcha. All families who have students within 1½ years of Bar or Bat Mitzvah are invited to participate in a four-part series of family programs that strengthen Torah learning, explore alternative ways of interpreting tradition and delve into the meaning of prayer. Each session uses art, music and parent-child dialogue as techniques to enter into deeper meaning.
Parents of B’nei Mitzvah are also encouraged to consider enrolling in the Adult Learning class, “Introducing Judaism Through the Siddur,” led by Rabbi Leonard Gordon and Rabbinic Intern Adam Zeff.
It’s a hectic time planning a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, but these programs help with practical support as well as meaningful study at this important time.
