The Teen Institute
Germantown Jewish Centre, in partnership with Mishkan Shalom, is offering a combined Hebrew High School experience. We believe that the synergy of our two institutions’ commitment to post-B’nei Mitzvah education creates a dynamic learning experience for our students.
Classes are both academic and creative; they encompass what has traditionally been called formal and informal education. Teens are able to choose an individualized course of study while fulfilling credits toward a Hebrew High School Diploma. Classes include Israel in the News, Jammin’ Jewish, An Overview of Comparative Religions, and Jewish Documentary Filmmaking. Confirmation class, Youth Group leadership training, Teen Tikkun Olam Committee and Teacher Aide certification are built into the course selection.
- The Teen Institute comprises three terms (seven sessions to a term).
- We meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
- Classes are 50 minutes long and social time (with pizza) is part of each night of study.
- Terms rotate between GJC and Mishkan Shalom.
